The Treloar Story

As a young child I had contracted polio, and also placed in care following a family break-up. Aged eleven, I then arrived at the Lord Mayor Treloar College, at Froyle, Alton, knowing little of the college’s history and reputation.
I was told “this boy will not amount to much”. But, by the time I left Treloar’s aged sixteen, my life had been changed beyond recognition.
This book is about the students, teachers, instructors and care-staff who have been part of the Treloar story for over one-hundred years. The stories are told by those concerned.

It is clear that Treloar’s has changed people’s lives. But who are the teachers, and who are the students?
This is a story of achievement, determination and inspiration.
